Message from the Principal:
Oaklawn Junior High School is proud to say that our School Performance Score has again increased for the 14-15 school year. Oaklawn now has a SPS of 76.7 and is labeled a “C” school. This is a gain of 1.3 points from last school year. We are on our way to becoming a “B” school. The continued efforts of all of Oaklawn’s teachers teaching the standards set by the Department of Education will increase student achievement on the state tests. This year your child will be taking the PARCC test which is replacing the LEAP and iLEAP tests. The Department of Education will use the PARCC test to determine Oaklawn’s SPS for next year. A new test, EADMS district post assessment in ELA and Math, will be used to measure individual student performance this school year. In addition, this test will also be used as one factor determining the advancement of 8th graders to the 9th grade.
